The Pilot
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to fly. November of 1965 I answered an add in Trade-A-Plane: " WANTED four men to fly company owned aircraft no experience necessary, will train to crop dust". It was off to Lubbock, TX and the start of my career. June of 1966 I received my commercial and instructors ratings. I went right to work teaching crop dusting. I then spent several summers crop spraying in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado. I flew charter, did forest and game patrol, hunted coyotes, flew pipeline patrol, and hauled fishermen into fishing camps in British Colombia.. I had several corporate jobs starting with Twin Commanders and ending with a Gulfstream IV. With 16,000+ hours and 40+ years in the flying business I have had many memorable experiences.
Along the way I picked up an old Super Cub and learned to skywrite to help pay for some of the expenses. Being an A & P with an inspectors authorization helped a little too.
I passed through Casper, Wyoming in 1969 and met my lovely wife. We now have a sweet daughter, a great son-in-law, and a grandson.
There has been a lot of water under the bridge but I still love to fly!
